Regenerative Organic

Evertything we do on the farm is aligned with our North Star of healthy living for ourselves, our community, and our soil.  We use no chemical fertilizers or pesticides.

Crop Rotations

In order to produce a crop year on year without diminishing soil health we rotate through a series of plantings in each part of the farm.  Starting with pasture for the sheep, we'll take that to wheat, then rye or oats the following year, then a leguminous cover crop.  After a couple of cycles the section will be put back into pasture again for 5-7 years.

Off Grid

We're powered by the sun.  Operating off of panels and batteries, we are keenly aware of our power consumption.  A surplus in the summer, we modify things and reduce in the winter as we gather around the fire.

Wood Heat

Heat generating appliances use lots of energy!

This means our buildings can only be heated by efficient wood burning stoves.

We do not use a microwave, dishwasher, or space heaters.

We wear lots of wool all winter long.  â€‹â€‹

We are always on the lookout for bucked trees or rounds to pick up!

Livestock Integration

We practice high density rotational grazing for the health of our sheep and our land.

Sheep are moved every few days to a new paddock, using solar powered electric fencing.

Pasture has time to regrow before the sheep are on the ground again.

Manure is spread naturally by the sheep, and reduces their exposure to parasites.

After harvesting the sheep delight in grazing the intercropped clovers left behind.
